Texas Two-Step

Question:  Part 1. What do you think the percentages are that all 16 states that have no statewide masked mandates have Republican governors?  Part 2.  What do you think the percentages are that all 16 states that have no statewide masked mandates have Democratic governors?  If you replied 100% for Part 1 and 0% for Part 2, you’re off the hook.  If you replied in the opposite manner or any other manner, you’re out of touch.  I’ve always remembered what I brought away from the James Bond movie Goldfinger when he and Bond 1st bumped into each other was happenstance and the 2nd time was coincidence.  “Be careful Mr. Bond, do not meddle in my affairs!”  What you would have next is the proverbial 3 strikes and you’re out!  16 Republican governors without statewide masked mandates have gots to be more than a coincidence.  They are all Trump states, except for Georgia, which is usually a red state so that could be considered a coincidence.

I feel that this is the quiet before the storm and that these governors are dropping the ball or as Dr. Fauci reiterated on Meet the Press when he stated, “Do not spike the ball on the 5-yard line” while discussing early reopening.  The state that seems to be at the top of the list is Texas.  Why does it always have to be Texas?  Didn’t I just go down this road 10 articles ago titled “Low Life” about Texas and Mississippi?  This definitely concerns me.  It’s reminiscent of Trump’s cavalier attitude toward this dreaded plague and his conspiracy theory remedies of heat or cold or bleach and, of course, hydroxychloroquine.  Word on the street is that Oklahoma took Trump’s medical saavy to heart and is now wondering what to do with the 2 million dollar stockpile of this stuff they currently have in storage.  Well, if they have an outbreak of Malaria in the OK state, they are well prepared.  I suggest they strike a deal with African nations as, according to certain statistics on malaria, there were 229 million clinical episodes and 409,000 deaths in 2019 in the WHO African Region.  Oklahoma isn’t quite Texas, but it’s close enough.  I can see these spring break outbreaks down the road from all these maskless large gatherings on the beaches of Texas and Florida.  I hope I’m wrong here.  We have the vaccines and are getting millions of folks inoculated each day and we have more hope now than ever before, but not so fast here. Governor Abbott has taken it upon himself to lift the mask mandate and increase the capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100% and with that in mind, I have something in mind.  Since Texas is the biggest state in the 48, let’s expand Trump’s wall and use it to close off the entire state, except for the Gulf area and use it as a compound for all those who refuse to use covid protocols.  They can return to a 100% pre-covid capacity and hang out face to face and asses to elbows.  They won’t even have to get vaccinated.  It’ll be like those zombie movies except we quarantine the zombies instead.  We will have to build lookout areas in surrounding states in case someone is trying to escape.  Make the security like during the Revolutionary War and use lantern signals of “one if by land, two if by sea” thing.  They would have their own country and I suppose Governor Abbott would be elected head zombie, but I suggest an open and free election and the kicker will be that since the population will be about 99 and 44/100ths Republican there shouldn’t be any problem with the Dominion voting machines.  Whadya think there amigos?  Puts a whole new spin on that George Strait tune, “All My Ex’s Live In Texas!  Stay tuned…..!
