Prophetic Pest

My apologies for getting sidetracked here as I was going to write about Oprah’s coup interview with the renegade royal couple, but that will have to be tomorrow’s critique.  Something else caught my eye and I will type out the headline for you so’s you can see why I changed my mind.  The article is from Newsweek and the title is, “Christian Pastor Claims Prophets Will Call Back Trump For Three Terms.”  Some of you out there can understand my interest in this since I have written articles about my propensity to lambast the mixing of church and state.  This pastor’s name is Robin Bullock and he describes himself as, “someone who operates heavily in the prophetic realm.”  Now I’m not exactly sure what that means, except for kinda, sorta, maybe?  When I come across words like prophetic and realm in the same headline, it will raise an eyebrow.  It would be similar to words in the same sentence such as; courteous, humble, Trump; Sullie, lottery, winner; free, food, beer etc.  Get my drift?  Real provocative stuff, eh?

Where can I start in on something like this?  Right off the bat, I consider this guy a ding-bat until, if or when he proves himself otherwise, which makes reading the entire article necessary.  He goes on to say that there are a ton of evangelicals out there that are ardent Trump supporters.  Well, nothing new there.  I usually write that off due to the anti-abortion plank of the Republican Party.  Next up is how self described prophets, including himself, (oh-oh),  predicted a Trump victory in 2020.  Strike 1 and still a ding-bat.  In reading on, it even gets better.  He continues with stating his belief is strong and Trump is the one, true President.  Strike 2 and ding-bat is becoming an euphemism.  You would think that would be enough, but no, he continues that Trump could walk right back in and God will supernaturally move things out of the way.  Strike 3, your out!  But wait, he goes on with something about if you listen to Trump, you can see he’s still the President and we must publicly keep telling people that so don’t mess with us, he’ll be back for 3 terms.  Strike 4, 5 & 6!  He’s a goner!

Here is where things turn creepy.  When self-described prophets spew out political prophecies, we usually tune them out for the lunatics they are, but when they are willing to go the distance, that’s where things turn ugly.  Religious freedom is a touchy subject and I’m surprised I’m even writing about it, but when certain zealots cross the line, they are in the same kooky category as all the other flakes in the world who have fallen over the edge.  It’s fine to have dreams and be passionate about things in life, but gagging people with vile verbiage?.  Heck, I always dreamed I’d be a rock star someday and thrill millions, or a best selling author and enthrall thousands, or a sought-after blogger and entertain hundreds.  All of that would be fine and dandy, but being a great husband and dad at least carries favor for four!  Stay tuned…..!
