Mind Over Matter

The lines are drawn, the divide is wide, the Dems and the Pubs will not abide, One being left and one being right, each to the other is out of sight, Red vs Blue, Black vs White, every new day brings another new fight, The extremist elite out in the street, ranting and raving and taking the heat, When will it end, being pushed aside, make room for the just, honor those who’ve died, I rest to you, to decide for me, if we be wronged or if we be free.

After 70 plus of these articles of consideration, I thought I would throw some poetry at you.  I’ve never been accused of being a poet laureate as most of the dabbling that I have accomplished in that area has been in the form  of humorous limericks that I really best not repeat at this time so I’ll just slide back into the parable political prose you have come to know and love.

I have come to grips with the fact that most days, my mind succumbs to my conscious moments and even some of my subconscious ones to reminiscing in the past.  Not the quackery stuff that some folks my age keep repeating to be true while the rest of the world knows it’s pure unadulterated bull****!  Let me give you an example.  Something popped up today that I had to check out.  I know that I mentioned I have given up on Fox News a couple articles ago, but I just could not help myself.  It was Trump in fine form discussing that there was no threat on January 6th, they were kissing and hugging the police, the doors were opened for them and they went inside for a while and then left.  See what he’s doing there?  He’s repeated that so many times and figures that is what really happened.  Anyway, as I was saying, what’s happening to me isn’t anything dramatic like that, it’s just an escape mechanism my mind switches on and helps me revert back to a more simplistic time.  Course most of this mind meandering takes place in the 50’s and 60’s.  You can’t blame me, especially in light of the violent assault on our day to day lives.  Politics alone is bad enough what with bipartisanship being a thing of the past, but just getting a massage or going to the grocery store can become hazardous to your health.  Our country today resembles a war zone on so many levels.  The network news stations used to just have ratings wars, which will never diminish, but now it’s wars of words aimed to harm each other.  It used to be CBS vs NBC vs ABC.  Nowadays it’s still those 3, but you add CNN vs MSNBC vs CNBC and all of them vs FOX, there are a lot of words flying around.  Of course, the biggest culprit is still Politics.  Back then, Dwight Eisenhower represented the Republicans and John F. Kennedy represented the Democrats.  Both war heroes and highly admired leaders.  Everybody liked Ike, even if you didn’t vote for him and Kennedy was a “rock star” and ushered in a new awareness for making politics a career path challenge to us youngins.  Those were the days.  I can neither explain nor re-live them, but I can sit back and have both my conscious and subconscious put a smile on my face.  Stay tuned…..!
