Goons With Guns: Part 2

Okay, let’s just say for the sake of argument that I go up to assault weapons aficionado like the conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro who has just stated something to the effect that if the government just thinks about thinking of banning assault weapons, the White House will have another thing coming.  Hmm?  I wonder what that would all entail?  Well, let’s play this out to his gun rights satisfaction.  I grab my lightweight 5.56 mm, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed M16 assault rifle with 20 rounds lock and load and stick it up his ass and fire off the entire clip, he should be one happy camper, right?  After all, he’s a gun rights 2nd Amendment zealot.  After I leave him piled up there with a smile on his face I go out to aptly named Rifle, Colorado, to the Shooter’s Grill where me and my M16 will pay a visit to Lauren Boebert and before anyone can reach for the heat they’re packin’ I’ll spray ‘em all over the place long before they get their 6-shooters out of their holsters.  There seems to be some deja vu here since I just went into this 2 days ago with my “Goons With Guns” article.  I guess it bears repeating here that, yes, I was trained well in munitions, became a marksman and ended up in Vietnam with an M16 as my bunk-mate.  It’s been quite a few years since I last fired a weapon which ironically occurred at my daughter and husband’s place in Representative Rambo’s district in Colorado.  Truth be known, I probably won’t be able to hit the broadside of a barn, but I’m not any less a believer in the 2nd Amendment than any other normal American citizen.  The key word there is “normal” which is what these preaching gun-rights lunatics that have their pictures taken with enough armor to start World War 3 are not.  They’re off the charts!

There is a reason that they are called assault weapons.  Think about it.  It’s bang bang shoot ‘em up and people are left dead and nobody is smiling.  They are not an assault with a friendly weapon item.  They are death and destruction, which there was plenty of this past week.  It will not stop and these pathetic “Pubs” will do their damndest to fan the flames.  Come on folks, can’t you see that there is a world of difference between a heavy duty, military type assault weapon and a for defense purposes handgun.  Yes, we have the right to defend ourselves, but we don’t have the right to destroy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  There is a modern expression that I hear people say just about every day that I never use, which is, “It is what it is” and technically, yes, they are right cause whatever is being talked about is what it is, but I feel it isn’t necessary to state the obvious.  The right to bear arms isn’t that simple.  I know I have the right to bear arms, but no way in the middle of winter in Northern Minnesota.  Long sleeve shirts over long underwear tops are the order of the day.  Just seeing if you’re paying attention and are still awake. 

The arguments going back and forth are not going to end anytime soon and these sad events are going to continue because we allow it to.  Just today a guy was arrested in Atlanta (again?) at a Publix store.  He walked in with full body armor on and 5 guns, one of them a not so friendly assault rifle.  WTF?  It’s not going to end what with all these nut cases out there and these FUBAR sorry ass Legislators preaching the 2nd Amendment.  I bet if I go over to their house and show them my lightweight, 5.56 mm, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed M16 assault rifle and stick it up their ass, it’ll put a smile on their face!  Stay tuned…..!

Uncommon Failure

Okay, I’ll let you all be the judge and jury of the following statement that I came across that was buried in the dark corners of the internet where I usually find my strange and highly unusual articles of confoundation.  This is a Los Angeles Times letter to the editor ( https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-04-12/huntington-beach-ku-klux-klan ) about the “burb” of Huntington Beach.  Headline: “Common ground with the Ku Klux Klan?  Huntington Beach has a problem.”  The letter starts off with, “As Huntington Beach was preparing for a Ku Klux Klan rally and, in response, a Black Lives Matter counter protest, police department spokesman Lt. The New Cult
