The Right Thing?

This is going to be highly unusual, but I have a very good reason to come to the defense of an actual Republican Senator.  Yeah, I know what you’re all thinking.  You folks out there can take the tact that Sullie’s dementia is acting up again clouding any inkling of good judgement that on certain rare occasions, he is capable of.  However, I’m afraid I have to turn around and reject that statement as I don’t ever recall being accused of having good judgement.  Anyway, I don’t look forward to going on the record of siding with a Republican Legislator, which I have done before and you may have witnessed it yourself if you have read some 3 articles back entitled, “Headlines.”  In that article, I came to the defense of Illinois Representative (R) Adam Kinzinger in lauding him for pushing back on his wacko relatives, however, if you read on, I then unloaded again on the proverbial nutcase Wisconsin Senator (R) Ron Johnson.  The case I present to you now is one that has been circulating for quite some time which involves the Magnificent 7.  Yes, those 7 Republicans that did the right thing and threw the Constitution at that orange shaded Republican cancer lump that incited the insurrection and voted GUITY!  I admit, I would not have thought of even thinking about writing an article in defense of their vote, save for an obscure backpage news story quote.  Pittsburgh News Outlet KDKA filed a report about the Washington County GOP Chairman Dave Ball.  During the interview, he was quoted as saying, “We did not send him there to vote his conscience.  We did not send him there to do the right thing or whatever.”

It’s okay, you can pause.  Take your time, a deep breath.  Let those last couple sentences sink in.  Is it just me, does anyone else out there smile when you come across another stupid, idiotic Trumpublican statement?  That one statement alone is noteworthy in that it can describe the entire operation of the Republican Party, however, I’m digressing here from my main theme.  That statement uttered by Mr. Ball was directed at the honorable Pennsylvania Senator (R) Pat Toomey.  Let’s have fun with this now by pointing out a couple of different perspectives.  Dave Ball vs Donald Trump: since a Pennsylvania County GOP Chairman or anyone else for that matter made the statement, it was the hit headline of the day.  If those words were mumbled during the Trump Presidency, it would have simply blended in with the dozens of misleading statements uttered on any given day.  Also, since it was directed at Senator Toomey from Pennsylvania, it turned heads, but if the statement was made by a low level GOP’er in Texas and directed at Ted Cruz, it would have been a foregone conclusion.  See how much fun politics can be?  You just need to read between the lines.  It’s what I do!  Stay tuned…..!
