The Stump

There is an old adage that has been floating around for quite some time, especially the past 4 years: “You Can’t Fix Stupid!”  Now Forrest Gump would say something to the effect of, “I’m not real sure ‘bout that, stupid is as stupid does!”  As for me, I would say that fixing stupid, at it’s best, is a definate, possible maybe and I find myself leaning favorably towards it, then I watch the evening news and phhhit!  Being borderline neutral, it would depend on whether or not I find myself sitting out the rest of the morning in the nearest water closet with a book of matches, chastising myself for my stupidity for eating chili cheese dogs again for breakfast.  My thoughts on the subject are, yes, people are basically stupid and it is up to them to unstupid themselves. Some succeed at it, but some deescalate quicker than a flitter fighting forty four frivolous felons.  I believe that a more fitting analogy would be something like, “Well, I Guess You Can’t Teach A Stump!”  I have friends who are teachers and they have had a whole slew of stumps throughout the years.  My favorite was this one particular 6th grader who…...well, I guess that’s a story for another time, but anyway, they are off the hook now since they have all been Trumped!

The Stump and his cohort die-hard Stumpublicans are the epitome of the quintessential “Stupid Is As Stupid Does.”  The Republican Party has allowed The Stump to runamok these past 4 years and now at the end of his inglorious and ignoble 1st and last term, has left our Nation in shambles.  However, now that we are in the 1st post-insurrection period and with only 12 days left, there are a few more Republicans who are coming to their senses and hoping for their soon-to-be worst U.S. President of all time to resign.  This, of course, will never happen, just as he will never concede.  So what’s the alternative?  The 25th Amendment?  Doesn’t look like Pence and The Cabinet are going to move forward on that, so it leaves us with the last and my most favorable option: Impeachment #2!  This would be the most stringent option since it will take away his post presidential perks, a tax break us taxpayers would certainly welcome, so let’s finish this thing.  Having said that, there are steps that should be taken to hasten his obscurity as sending him to his room is not going to work.  The media, in all forms, have to take away every platform that he can spew from.  He has a lifetime ban from Twitter and has been indefinitely suspended from Instagram and Facebook.  Well, it’s a start, but there is a long and winding road that has to be navigated in order to shut this guy down.  Stay tuned…..!

Uncommon Failure

Okay, I’ll let you all be the judge and jury of the following statement that I came across that was buried in the dark corners of the internet where I usually find my strange and highly unusual articles of confoundation.  This is a Los Angeles Times letter to the editor ( https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-04-12/huntington-beach-ku-klux-klan ) about the “burb” of Huntington Beach.  Headline: “Common ground with the Ku Klux Klan?  Huntington Beach has a problem.”  The letter starts off with, “As Huntington Beach was preparing for a Ku Klux Klan rally and, in response, a Black Lives Matter counter protest, police department spokesman Lt. Brian Smith said,” now here’s the kicker, “We hope that they can utilize events like this as a means to find the common ground and work together for the common goal.”  ???  I thought I would substitute the usual WTF that usually follows an incredulous statement like that with question marks.  I never pass up the ...

One Trick Phony

I have to admit that my denigration of Senator Ron Johnson (R) Wisconsin, a target that I have delved into a time or twenty in the past has been very enjoyable and exhilarating.  I’m not saying that it supersedes tearing apart other Republicans, I’m just saying that Ron Jon is still in the running as “Pub” Flub of the year, not to be confused with Jimmy Kimmel’s nomination that Marjorie Taylor Greene be named worst person of the year.  Although these two honors are closely related, they are two separate awards.  I cannot think of anything he has made headlines over that has been even remotely favorable to me, until today.  Okay, okay, yes he was the only one in the chamber to sit through the mundane 628 page readout of the Bailout Bill yesterday, nice trick, but he had no choice and had to stay there till after midnight playing with his phone since he is the one who objected.  All that was, was a typical delaying tactic that the wealthy can use to keep the downt...
