The Final Countdown

I have a question for you all and I will phrase it with my usual Northern Minnesota jargon and that is: So, what will be the name of Trump’s new political party, then?  See what I did there?  You can ask any question on any subject with that phrase as an opening statement.  Here, let me walk you through it.  Let’s just say there is a debate as to the greatest baseball player of all time and you want recognition for your guy so you would ask, “So, is Willie Mays the best of all time, then?”  Or maybe the talk is about jet pilots, you would simply phrase it, “So, is Chuck Yeager the greatest flyer of them all, then”?  Are you catching on?  For those of you who aren’t, help is here for you.  Just write this phrase 10 times and you should catch on, “So, is Donald Trump the worst President of all time, then?”  Get it?  Got it?  Good?  So, you ready to move on, then? 


When Brian Williams starts his news report this evening, he will inform you that this is day 1,461 of the Trump Administration, but what he won’t say and would like to is, “This is the last fucking day I have to announce that shit cause his number is up!”  As for me, his number was up before he ever threw his hairpiece in the ring.  Here’s a riddle for you: What is the difference between Trumpublicans and Conspiracy Theories?  Answer:  Beats me!  This has been four fearfully, fraudulent, frustratingly, felonious, furiously failed years and tomorrow, we finally kick that sorry sack of shit and his family out of our house.  I just hope those residents down by Mar-A-Lago end up as torch bearing zealots and storm the castle.  All that would be Jim Dandy, but it would not change the main character.  I missed the first 3 years and 9 ½ months of the Trump Presidency, so, did I miss anything, then?  I had to do some research, but I cut to the chase and looked at the 2 bookends of his term: Inauguration Day and today, his last full day.


I was fortunate to find an article from Politico Magazine titled, “How The First Day Of The Trump Presidency Foreshadowed The Four Years To Come” and I can honestly say that he is the exact same arrogant narcissist on his last day as he was on his first, but then again, you already know that..  Trump set the tone immediately on inauguration morning when he and his trophy went to the White House to go through the ceremonial tea formality with the Obamas that he refuses to do with the Bidens, however, chances are good that it is a relief to Joe and Jill.  The article went on to quote the words of Obama’s special assistant and director of Oval Office operations Brian Mosteller, “It was quite unnerving and the country is going to be in rough shape!”  The article went on to say, “As Trump’s tenure comes to a close this Wednesday, fewer days are as symbolic of his time in office as the first: the jubilation of the fans, the dread of the foes, the bellicosity of the rhetoric, the unorthodoxy of the approach, disruptiveness as a tactic, chaos as a byproduct and the petty obsessions that colored it all.”  None of this matters to the Master of Disaster.  Word on the street is that he is going to start his own political party called, “The Patriot Party.”  That would be a misnomer.  Not sure what he has in mind, but I’m sure we will hear about it in the days to come.  Total and unequivocable impeachment is the only answer.  Whoa!  I started this article yesterday and now it’s tomorrow.  T-minus 12 hours and counting and I am still holding my breath.  Wouldn’t it be cool, if no one shows up to see him off?  Stay tuned…..!

Uncommon Failure

Okay, I’ll let you all be the judge and jury of the following statement that I came across that was buried in the dark corners of the internet where I usually find my strange and highly unusual articles of confoundation.  This is a Los Angeles Times letter to the editor ( https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-04-12/huntington-beach-ku-klux-klan ) about the “burb” of Huntington Beach.  Headline: “Common ground with the Ku Klux Klan?  Huntington Beach has a problem.”  The letter starts off with, “As Huntington Beach was preparing for a Ku Klux Klan rally and, in response, a Black Lives Matter counter protest, police department spokesman Lt. Brian Smith said,” now here’s the kicker, “We hope that they can utilize events like this as a means to find the common ground and work together for the common goal.”  ???  I thought I would substitute the usual WTF that usually follows an incredulous statement like that with question marks.  I never pass up the ...

The New Cult
