There has just been a development that has changed
what I was going to write about. In fact, I just deleted an entire
paragraph to start over. I decided to forego D-Day +3 as it would have
been more of the previous day with the score still 264 to 214 and wait until
D-Day +4 and I am glad I did as the nation just received the news and there are
celebrations breaking out all around the country with horns blowing, bells
ringing, flags waving, music blasting and dancing in the streets, reminiscent
of the 1980 Winter Olympics Miracle On Ice when Herb Brooks’ Team USA hockey
team defeated the Soviet Union. This was an election for the ages, the biggest
turnout yet and what a great ending to a long drawn out record number ballot
casting Presidential election day/week this has been and it only took 4
overtime periods. I can’t describe the relief my wife and I felt when it
was finally called. This ominous feeling of moroseness seemed to have
dissipated as if leaving the darkness and walking into the light. Our
television has been on since Tuesday and I had never seen anything like how
these past few days have played out. I have to admit, I was scared.
The thought of another 4 years of the present regime was not an option.
Ever since the Trumpets took over, we have always carried our passports with
us, but with the virus, there is really no place we can go.
So what happens now during this 74 day transitional
period before Biden is sworn in as our 46th president? We have a
president-elect assembling his team and a lame-duck oompa loompa who will never
concede. I imagine he’s in denial which means, to him, the election isn’t
over so why concede? How many more tantrums will we have to put up with
and how many things will he break? This loose cannon may cause
irreparable damage to this country. I’m not sure if his family and those
real close to him can even reach him. I’m telling you, this guy is zoned,
he’s become the Hannibal Lecter of politics. If only there was an
official playbook in the Constitution that would allow Congress to invoke the
“Desperate Measures Act” in which a potentially harmful lame-duck president can
be put into suspended animation. Just think, the government can go on
with business as usual while Biden puts together his transition team and after
he is sworn in on January 20th, the 74 days will be up, Trump will be revived,
handed his walking papers along with his luggage, escorted out of the building
to a waiting limo and chauffeured to Mar-a-Lago never to be seen or heard from
again. Oh boy, if only! Unfortunately, the reality that is laid out
ahead of us is something quite different, I just hope that no one gets hurt and
whatever bad things happen can be fixed! Stay tuned…..!
