Division Decision

As much as I was heartened to hear Joe speak about bi-partisanship and a coming of together to heal our nation in his inaugural address, I’m afraid that is mission impossible.  We’ve had so many years of division on so many different levels in this country, especially the past 4 Trump years, that a coming together, at it’s best, just won’t happen.  I’m sure millions of you out there have already figured that out.  These disagreements have all turned political.  Let's take the most simple item of day to day conflict in our nation as an example: Masks.  That’s about as basic as an item of contention I can come up with.  Now I will simplify it right down to its lowest common denominator which is, most folks who wear masks are Democrats and most folks who don’t are Republicans, or even more simplified, most folks who don’t wear masks are Trumpers  and most folks who do, are not.

Now for the really bad news.  Since masks are the bottom feeders in this scenario, what are the upper limits of the food chain?  In just a couple words, everything else.  You’ve got all these Republican governors that have dropped the masked mandates, Republican Congressman Chip Roy from Texas propagating for a lynching law, Wisconsin Republicans voting for Rush Limbaugh recognition, but voting down Black History Month plus another Wisconsin Senator who consistently plays down the January 6th insurrection in that he didn’t feel threatened whilst the rest of the world incredulously watched on, Representative AOC (D) New York raises over $5 million for Texas relief, but their Republican Legislator Ted Cruz escapes to Mexico, all the spring-break lunatics gathering together in large unmasked groups down in Miami getting arrested, etc., etc., etc.  We could go on all night about the divisions in this country making headlines with no relief in sight.  Plainly speaking, there are too many nut cases out there that will prevent Joe from reaching his goal.

My final case in point that I want to cover here is a thing of beauty in its simplicity.  I came up with a term for this point that had been used before during World War 2, but it has sort of an evil connotation and that is: The Final Solution.  Needless to say, I’m not going there.  So, I decided to go original and I have to admit that I absolutely amaze myself every once in a while and this is one of those every once in a while moments.  I’m talking about “The Shot” and my original slogan is “Division Decision.”  Whadaya think?  Pretty clever, eh?  It’s come down to that.  Do you get the shot, or not?  We have 3 options here in the United States.  One approach is that the more options there are, the more the availability, the more inoculated each day and the sooner you can receive one.  On the other hand, if there were just one, then you don’t have to eeny, meeny, miny, moe and wonder which one to choose.  As it is, your best choice is the quickest one available.  Unfortunately, I have been seeing reports of flat out refusal, even if Trump told these Trumpers to take the vaccine they won’t.  I do sympathize, I’m pretty much a needle-weenie myself.  I’ve already given that impression 4 articles ago titled, “The Shot.”  I decided to go for it since I am not enamored with the alternative.  My division decision came down to 2 factors: I only had 1 reason not to, but I had over 540,000 reasons to.  Stay tuned…..!
